Our Favorite BFFs From Fall TV

Forget the few weeks before Christmas, THIS is the most wonderful time of the year. No, it has nothing to do with the return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, or even the changing leaves and a chill in the air. No, this is the most wonderful time of the year because our best friend comes back.! Clearly I’m talking about television.

It’s been a long hot summer of binge-watching things inside with the AC turned all the way up, but that’s about to change. Over the next few weeks, all of our favorite shows return to our lives and this is a perfect time to celebrate. It’s kind of like the first day of school for everyone, where we quickly catch up on what everyone did over their vacation, and then it’s back to business. Let’s get the shows rolling again guys. While television might be collectively all of our best friends, let’s not forget the best friends we find on TV. They’re often the reason we return week-after-week to watch their adventures. Here are just some of the best friends making a triumphant return into our lives.

1. Sheldon and PennyThe Big Bang Theory

First on the list and you’re probably like, “um, but they’re not actually best friends. . ?” Yes, they are. They are a strange, twisted duo of friendship, and that’s why I love them. Think about the positive impact Penny has had on Sheldon, and vice versa. Where would Penny be without a little push from Sheldon? Remember that time he hugged her? Sure, they’re both in relationships, but these two are still the best pair deep down inside. Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. . .

2. Peter and Morgan – The Mindy Project

If Mindy isn’t busy doing literally everything else under the sun, maybe she should make a web series (or heck, full-fledged television series) about Peter and Morgan and their crazy adventures. The best moment of The Mindy Project ‘s second season was when the two hijacked Mindy’s phone to send racy texts to Cliff. It was probably the best thing to happen on television this past year.

3. Ryan and EspositoCastle

These two might not be familiar to everyone, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get to know them. If you ever get around to binging Castle, which you should, you’ll find these two delightfully adorable with all the crime fighting and solving they do. Playing detectives, they are as different as night and day, but they’re the best of friends. It’s great watching Esposito play a tough guy with a soft side, and Ryan pretend to be tough while wearing suspenders. Last season, the two got trapped in a burning building and we all held our breath for 42 minutes.

4. Max and Caroline2 Broke Girls

You have to admit that Max and Caroline are hilarious on 2 Broke Girls. With their incredibly crazy antics, they’re almost—dare I say it?—like Lucy and Ethel. Their chemistry together is spot on even though they are the most unlikely team ever. Plus, it’s great to see female best friends on TV who never fight over a guy! They’re allowed to fight over cupcakes.

5. Prince Charming and Captain Hook – Once Upon A Time

Most of the time, these two are at odds with each other, but last season they did a lot of bro-bonding, so hopefully this season they’ll start a true bromance. Besides, who doesn’t love a little friendly rivalry? The timeline/family history on OUAT might be a little messy, but these two are always willing to fight for what they believe in, and see things through to the end. You know, when they’re not being completely sassy to the other.

6. Fitz and SimmonsMarvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

These two agents of S.H.I.E.L.D are the go-to tech geniuses of the show, also best friends, and maybe in love with one another, time will tell. Regardless of whatever the heck is happening on the show, these two stay true to each other, and to their other best friend, science!

7. EveryoneBrooklyn Nine-Nine

In typical workplace sitcom fashion, the lives of everyone at the 99th Precinct intertwine, but in the best way possible. Whether it be Boyle believing that Jake is truly his best friend (come on, he is) or Amy trying to have a heartfelt conversation with Rosa, or even Gina meddling in everyone’s affairs, it’s no surprise this show won Best Comedy at the Golden Globes. It should win Best Everything at Life.

8. Jenna and TamaraAwkward

High school is bad enough as it is, so it helps to have a best friend by your side. The girls have had their ups and their downs (along with hookups and breakups), but regardless, they’ve always remained true friends. Mostly. Okay, it’s high school so things are bound to happen, but at the end of the day, they still have a friend in the other. That’s all you really need in high school.

9. Jess and CeCeNew Girl

They’re always there for each other. Always. Roommate-slash-boyfriends may come and go but these best lady friends are forever.

Honorable Mention Because Their Show Doesn’t Come Back Till Mid-Season: Tom and Donna – Parks and Recreation
