Beyoncé is Vogue’s September-issue cover model — here’s why that’s rad

Beyoncé — queen of our hearts — is making headlines again and in a major way. Today, designer Marc Jacobs let the cat out of the bag, revealing that the songstress will appear on one of the most popular magazine covers of the year: the September issue of Vogue.

So, why is it a big deal? Well, first the September issue of the fashion mag is so culturally important that there’s an entire critically-acclaimed documentary about it (simply entitled The September Issue). Naturally, when putting together the issue, which normally clocks in at 600-plus pages, Anna Wintour and her team are unsurprisingly picky about who they decide put on the cover. Last year, Instagram-famous models Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne, and Karlie Kloss graced the cover, a follow-up to the 2013 issue featuring America’s feisty sweetheart, Jennifer Lawrence. Meanwhile, Beyoncé, here in 2015, is making no small amount of history as the first woman of color to appear solo on the cover of the September issue since Halle Berry in 2010.

And the results are stunning: The cover features the singer with wet hair (drawing comparisons to her sultry beach look in the “Drunk In Love” video) and sporting a Marc Jacobs gown and coat, which sent the designer into quite a tizzy . . . his designs were also featured on the Nicole Kidman cover.

Other pages in the spread feature Beyoncé in an off-the-shoulder, deep cleavage Stella McCartney gown and in a sheer, form-hugging number from Atelier Versace. In other words, it is unadulterated Queen Bey.

Check out a preview of the whole Mario Testino shoot — which includes commentary from big-name designers on why Beyoncé is the best, as well as killer video footage. And look for the issue to hit newsstands on August 25. Slay, Bey.
