This “Star Wars” character was, not surpsingly, influenced by Beyoncé
We don’t know if Jyn Erso has a favorite beverage, but we’re willing to guess it’s lemonade. You see, Beyoncé impacted Rogue One: A Star Wars Story without ever setting foot on set. In fact, Felicity Jones confessed to E! that the pop star served as an inspiration for Jyn. And, you know, we can kind of see why. Remember when Beyoncé’s earring tore in performance, and it barely fazed her? She’s unstoppable, and we can tell from the new Rogue One trailer that Jyn Erso is, too.
Jones says she listened to a loot of Beyoncé while working on Rogue One. Her favorite track is “Single Ladie,” because of course. She even joked to E!: “Jyn’s a single lady.” However, it was Lemonade that truly served as an inspiration for Jyn.
Says Jones of Beyoncé, "I think she's someone who has incredible power and is devoted to what she does, but she also seems like a very nice person. I think that's very important to emulate."
You know, we can see similarities.
Jyn Erso has to be strong, but Jones’ words remind us that she isn’t ruthless. Ultimately, being an inspirational figure in the Rebellion against the Empire is about trust and camaraderie with the other rebels as much as it is about fighting. Though, Jones also did her fair share of “fighting.”
"There was a lot of bruising. Particularly when I'm doing these scenes, I get really into it. When I'd get home, I wouldn't even realize. I think the adrenaline is pumping around your body so much. Then you get home and you're suddenly like, 'Wow, I've got quite a few bruises going on here.'"
Luckily, Jones had a lot of support. “I worked really closely with the stunt team, who were just the loveliest group of people. They really held my hand through it, actually, and made it very, very easy and straightforward. We just practiced a hell of a lot—a lot of rehearsal.”
We can’t wait to see that all that hard work pay off in the film. Of course, now we just might be humming tracks from Lemonade while we sit in the theater.
