Bow down and hear Beyoncé as Nala for the first time in this new Lion King teaser
“Simba,” Beyoncé, as Nala, croons in the latest Lion King trailer. The singer’s voice paired with the image of the future queen lioness of the savannah will undoubtedly send shockwaves through the TLK fan community. Now that we’ve finally heard Bey speak in her part opposite Donald Glover as Simba, the “live-action” remake of the classic Disney animated film cannot come soon enough.
In the new teaser trailer, titled “Come Home,” Nala orders Simba to return to the pride and take his place as king in order to remove his uncle Scar, voiced by Chiwetel Ejiofor, from the throne. “We need you,” she says. And if the internet has taught us anything, whatever Beyoncé needs, Beyoncé gets.
Not only do we finally get to hear what Beyoncé sounds like as Nala, but we also get a peek into the intense battle between Scar and Simba over Pride Rock, the budding chemistry between Simba and Nala, and how exactly Timon (Billy Eichner) and Pumbaa (Seth Rogen) will provide comedic relief through all the tension.
Our childhood nostalgia is about to be flipped on its head.
And although we’ll be watching Nala onscreen, we’ll be thinking about Beyoncé in this regal outfit the entire time. Don’t mind us—we’re just eternally bowing down.
The circle of life may have just sped up a bit…because we are fully dead over this new teaser trailer. Hopefully, we will resurrect before the film opens in theaters on July 19th. Because as a devout member of the Bey Hive (and the Nala Pride), this adaptation is something we cannot miss.
