Beyoncé changed the matching IV tattoo she got with JAY-Z
Throughout their marriage, rumors have circulated that the relationship between Beyoncé and JAY-Z is in trouble. And with the discovery that Beyoncé changed their matching IV tattoos, you may be concerned the gossip is true. However, don’t fret, since it looks like Bey just gave her tattoo an update, one that should still have meaning for the couple.
As People reported, Beyoncé and JAY-Z got matching tattoos of the Roman numeral four on their ring fingers after they were married. The number four is symbolic to the couple since Beyoncé’s birthday is September 4th, JAY-Z’s birthday is December 4th, and their wedding anniversary is April 4th. JAY-Z’s latest album is even named 4:44, after his fave number.
In a video posted on Instagram by Beyoncé in celebration of their ninth wedding anniversary, you can actually see the footage of them getting their tattoos.
And in an Instagram post from March 2016 showing her henna tattoos, her IV is visible.
But now, it looks like Beyoncé has altered her tattoo. The change was spotted in another Instagram video she posted on September 19th.
While you (rightfully) are probably distracted by her amazing style, fans noticed in a closeup image of her hand that the tattoo now has a line connecting the I and the V, and that the I has been extended with a little tail.
Yet, there may be no need to panic about Beyoncé’s updated ink. The changes have made it look like both a traditional number 4 and a J, so perhaps it’s still a tribute to her marriage to JAY-Z.
And Beyoncé and JAY-Z just hit the town together (her first public appearance since she gave birth to their twins in June) on September 14th for Rihanna’s Diamond Ball.

So while the edits to her tattoo are a mystery for now, there’s no need to be concerned about Mr. and Mrs. Carter.
