Michelle Obama, Blue Ivy, and so many other stars posed for this surprise photo shoot for Beyoncé’s birthday
When you’re a close friend or family member of Beyoncé’s, there’s only one way to adequately celebrate her birthday…and that involves getting in formation.
In honor of Bey’s 36th birthday, stars like Michelle Obama and Serena Williams replicated Beyoncé’s “Formation” look and fans were understandably shook by how incredible it was.
In the “Formation” song (and subsequent music video), Bey proves she slays all day, so what better way for her closest loved ones to celebrate her than by doing just that, donning wide-brimmed black hat, braids, and statement necklace.
The photo project was posted on Beyoncé’s official website as a tribute to her on September 4th, aka #beyday — her 36th birthday, of course.

Beyoncé’s close pals (and former Destiny’s Child bandmates) also joined in on the fun.

Serena Williams (pre-baby!) paid tribute to her pal too. false
Bey’s mom, Tina Knowles Lawson, also participated, of course. false
But the cutest “Formation” tribute of all? That was all thanks to Beyoncé’s 5-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. false
We are swooning. Okay ladies, now let’s get in formation, because it’s time to wish Beyoncé one last happy birthday. #slayqueenBey
