Beyoncé broke her interview silence for Beat Magazine
Hey all, remember when it seemed like Beyoncé wasn’t going to give any more interviews, even to a publication like Vogue? Instead, her recent cover for them was accompanied by a lovely profile by critic and memoirist Margo Jefferson — without any Queen B quotes. While at the time we speculated that she’d given up answering new questions because she was sharing news and updates with her fans directly on platforms like Instagram, she kind of broke her interview silence for indie publication BEAT Magazine.
While Yoncé didn’t speak in-person to BEAT, she provided some amazing quotes for their cover story via email. The revelations about her favorite throwback Beyoncé outfits! (“Destiny’s Child Survivor era with the army fatigues. Or maybe Bootylicious with the gold tooth and pink tips in my hair.”) Her favorite pizza toppings! (“Extra tomato sauce and jalapeños” — word.) Netflix or chill? (“Netflix and chill.”) But of course, she wasn’t just asked for cute celeb tidbits: Responding to a question about what fear tastes like, Bey had this to say:
Um, getting that printed in huge type for a motivational poster.
While the full text of the interview is dropping in BEAT’s print issue (out October 21), the images from her Americana-inspired cover shoot are also out, and they’re (surprise) stunning:
Beyoncé being Beyoncé, she released the news (and the stunning cover shot) herself on Instagram with the most appropriate caption ever:
Did she agree to the BEAT interview and cover shoot just to post that self-referencing shoutout? Maybe, but that doesn’t make it any less amazing and interesting. We’ve got Taylor Swift on Wonderland, Rihanna for AnOther — these huge superstars are turning to (and supporting) smaller publications to get their weird and wonderful on, and hey, if they keep delivering quotes and photos like these, we are all for it.
Ring the alarm: Beyoncé just dropped a new song, “Runnin’ (Lose It All)”
