Turns out, we’d rather have someone break into our car than deal with fake Super Bowl tickets

Going to live sporting events is one of the most magical experiences on earth. For sports lovers, being inside the arena or park, surrounded by fellow fans, and hearing pump-up music over the speakers as you wait in line to buy a drink and snacks, is a ritualistic experience. But getting into some of these major sporting events, like the Super Bowl often leaves fans scrambling for tickets, often leading to unfortunate cases of ticket fraud, where fans pay for fraudulent tickets.

Ever found yourself holding fraudulent tickets? You’re not alone. Ticketmaster recently crunched the numbers and learned that 1 in 5 Americans (or, roughly 22% of us) have at one time or another been faced with tickets that won’t get us into the big game. We love sports so much, and hate bad tickets so much, 1 out of every 3 of us would rather lose their phone at the game than not be allowed inside of it to begin with. 

Even worse, 1 out of every 4 of us would rather have someone break into our car parked in the lot at the stadium than turn up at the gate with fake tickets and be turned away.

That’s some love for the Game.

Hoping to make things a little bit better, Ticketmaster recently provided a few ticket fraud victims with the most amazing condolence prize: Tickets to the super bowl.

Ticketmaster runs an NFL ticket website called NFL Ticket Exchange which gives fans the opportunity to buy and resell verified NFL tickets, which hopefully cuts down fraudulent NFL ticket sales. Ticketmaster recent met with fans who fell victim to fraud tickets. Dan and Eian Dougherty and Justin Snyder bought tickets to an NFL game using an independent website and after shelling out a lot of money, they were turned away from the game due to fake tickets.

Ticketmaster met with the fans recently and after talking with the Doughertys and Snyder, gave them each tickets to this Sunday’s SUPER BOWL!

The tickets came courtesy of Ticketmaster and the NFL Ticket Exchange, to help publicize the need to crack down on fake tickets. Most people know at least one person who’s fallen victim to fraudulent tickets and while it may seem like a cheaper bet to make a side deal with a stranger, you really have no way of knowing if you’re actually getting authentic tickets.
