Australian singer Betty Who might have just released our favorite song of the week

We’re suckers for a bouncy pop song, which is why we can’t get enough of Betty Who’s new song “Human Touch.”

Hailing from Australia, Betty Who previously made waves in the U.S. with her track “Somebody Loves You,” which went viral after a gay couple, Dustin and Spencer, used the song for in a marriage proposal video at Home Depot.

Often cited as Australia’s answer to Robyn (amazing) and Katy Perry, the latter whom she also toured with, Betty Who’s first two EPsThe Movement and Slow Dancing, were followed up by the singer’s debut album, Take Me When You Go in 2014.

Now, let’s re-live that cute AF proposal video because the world could do with more love right now.

The first song to be lifted from the singer’s upcoming second album, which is set for release early next year, “Human Touch” was written by Betty Who, Peter Thomas, and Kyle Moorman, who also produced the track.

"'Human Touch’ is about when you’re in a relationship with somebody and that relationship ends, and you’ll always live in this weird middle ground where you used to be the closest person in the world to this ex—but now you’re not anymore," Betty explained in a press released. "It’s real to me, and it felt universal enough for me to write about."

Seriously, we’ve all been there, right?

"I’ve spent the past two years on the road, and I walked away with this intense feeling of wanting to make dance music," Betty continued. "All of that touring and living developed my sense of self. Because of that, I’m in a place where I feel more aware of who I am and able to be vulnerable in a sincere and blunt way. ‘Human Touch’ is the introduction to that new version of myself I’ve found in the last couple of years."

Those who are fans of Australian pop singers in general might also recognize Betty Who from YouTuber Troye Sivan’s debut album.

The pair collaborated on Troye’s song “Heaven,” which deals with LGBTQ+ acceptance. Listen to the song below.

"I remember the first time I heard [Heaven] – there are only a couple of songs in the world I wish I had written and ‘Heaven’ was one of those songs," Betty told Attitude magazine last month. "I am just happy to be part of it, it’s one of my most favourite songs in the world and it makes me so happy singing with him. I think he is such an important face to young LGBT kids or anyone who is themselves and is ok with that."

Betty Who had previously teased her musical come back with a cover of Donna Lewis’s “I Love You Always Forever.

Noted for it’s inclusivity, the video for  featured a plethora of LGBTQ+ couples, something that Betty has always felt very passionate about doing.

"I have always thought that love is love and I don’t know why anyone sees it as anything but that. And this song is called ‘I Love You Always Forever’ so I wanted to explore what that looks like for everybody… How unconditional love can be between friends, parents, boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives. I wanted to show how love can be really sweet and exploratory, ‘I’m just in love with this girl or boy’," she explained
