One of our favorite pop innovators has done it again with this bleakly beautiful track and video. A meditation on love (directed toward others and the self) and intimacy, “Good To Love” is our first inkling at what twigs could be up to in 2016.
Birdy — “Beautiful Lies”
You’ve almost definitely heard Birdy’s cover of “Skinny Love” before, but the 19-year-old indie folk sensation has been relentlessly prolific on her own as well. The title track for her third album is spare but brimming with below-surface tension; a perfect complement for her supernaturally expansive voice.
