According to IMDB, these are the best movies over the last 25 years

The Internet Movie Database, our favorite website for trying to figure out just WHAT else that supporting actor has been in, just turned 25. And in honor of their big 2-5 year, IMDb has gone ahead and released a list of the most popular movies released every year for the last 25 years, so from 1990 until right now (currently, for 2015 Inside Out is the best movie of the year, and we say duh).

The best movies of the year are user-voted on, as we are well aware every time we see those tiny little gold stars pop up underneath a movie title. None of the movies on the list are really surprising, and many have actually gone on to win Best Picture at the Oscars so of course they’re our favs. But, from this list, the most popular guy on it still has no Oscar. Leonardo DiCaprio has appeared in four of the most popular IMDb films over the last two and a half decades, still no little golden trophy. Maybe year #26 will finally be his?

Also something that should come as a shock to no one, for three years running, The Lord of the Rings trilogy reigned supreme as the best movie of the year. And still, no surprise, 1994’s The Shawshank Redemption has the highest rating of any movie on the site with an impressive 9.3. There are three movies tied with the lowest (but still pretty high) rating of an 8.2: Fargo, Into The Wild, and The Wolf of Wall Street (sorry again, Leo).

The top movies of the last ten years can be found below, and the complete list can be found over at Vanity Fair. You’ve either seen a ton of them, or still have quite a few movies to watch.
