The Best Movie You Will Ever See is Coming Soon
Let me paint you a little picture of a fantasy land:
I’m a bigwig studio executive and I am sitting in a giant conference room in a power suit, ruling the world. You come in and say, “so Erin, what is your dream cast for a touching yet funny movie about a charmingly dysfunctional family?”
First I would say, “How DARE you interrupt me! GET OUT OF HERE!” and then I’d say, “Just kidding. It’s: Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, Adam Driver and Jane Fonda. Oh and Peter Russo from House of Cards too! And maybe Kathryn Hahn, Connie Britton and Rose Byrne could also be there? I’m just spit-balling. Whatever. Fetch me a latte!”
Well, maybe not exactly but it’s hard not to look at the cast of the September 2014 movie This Is Where I Leave You and swoon. The trailer was just released and as if I wasn’t excited enough by the cast the trailer looks great as well:
This is the story of the Altman family coming together again for their father’s funeral (based on the book of the same name by Jonathan Tropper). Jason Bateman plays Judd, who just found out his wife was sleeping with his boss (played by Dax Shepherd) and Tina Fey plays Wendy. Just off the top of my head, my favorite part of the trailer is definitely Tina Fey throwing a punch at Dax Shepherd and saying, “you’re idiots but you’re my idiots” to Jason Bateman and Adam Driver because that is the number one way I describe my family (in my head) all the time. Like, * I * can make fun of you but if anyone else does I WILL NOT BE HAPPY. And I’m a sucker for that stuff. I only have a younger brother and I feel intensely protective of him and also always wished we had more siblings so we could be this weird gang (or at least start a band).
Jane Fonda obviously plays the mother of this family who has just had a breast augmentation (“you’ve got bionic breasts now”). Oh, but also my favorite part is when Adam Driver answers a phone call and says, “no we’re just sitting in an awkward silence.” Actually I think everything is my favorite part.
I legitimately cannot wait to laugh and cry in this movie as soon as it comes out.
How excited are you for this movie??
