It’s official: These are the best colleges in America
Trying to decide where to head to college? We feel your pain. It’s definitely a touch choice. We’re about to make things a bit easier for you, though. The US News and World Report just revealed its rankings for the best colleges in the United States, which offers the DL on all the schools you should be checking out.
The list includes some colleges and universities you’d expect, but also a few wildcards. All of them would make an excellent place to spend the next four years.
The rankings are based on many things, including “location and the feel of campus life; the range of academic offerings, activities and sports; and cost and the availability of financial aid,” US News reports.
As far as national Universities go, here are the top 10:
- University of Chicago
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
- Duke University
- University of Pennsylvania
- California Institute of Technology

Obviously those school aren’t for everyone, and many, many US colleges that didn’t make the official cut are perfectly wonderful places to get degrees. And if your dream school DID make it onto the list, make sure you visit the campus to make sure it’s the one for you before signing any applications — your college experience will be based on so many things, all very personal to you.
In addition to the list of top schools, US News also has a pretty intensive database with profiles for 1,800 schools, and the SAT scores and GPA you’ll likely need to make it into them. You can also check out customized lists of schools based on your own personal needs, so you can find the perfect fit for you. It’s definitely worth checking out, and might just highlight a school you haven’t thought of, but should totes apply to.
