The Best Social Media Moments From the ‘Mockingjay’ Set

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay fever is at an all-time high right now. Propaganda posters featuring each district have been released, a pseudo trailer from the Capitol just came out, and filming for the movies officially wrapped last week. Though Mockingjay Part 1 won’t hit theaters for another few months, and Part 2 will come a year after that, there’s plenty of online teasers to keep Hunger Games fans fed in the meantime.

To ramp up excitement—and besides, since when did anyone need a reason to read a Hunger Games listicle?—I did a little digging on Twitter (and Instagram) to find some behind-the-scenes fun from the Mockingjay sets. Filming may be over, but we still have two movies to look forward to. And from the looks of these photos, they’re going to be awesome.

Jena Malone, Johanna Mason

Can I be friends with Jena Malone? Perfect. Thanks. Also, pretty cool that her initials and her character’s initials are both JM. MEANINGFUL STUFF.

Elizabeth Banks, Effie Trinket

Winter is coming. In Atlanta. If you didn’t know, now you do: Elizabeth Banks’ Twitter/Instagram/everything is high-larious.

Nina Jacobson, Producer

Nina Jacobson captured our hearts and gave us an amazing peek behind the Mockingjay curtain, starting with this little fellow. OH HAI, FRIEND.

I mean, come on. Nina Jacobson’s Twitter account has everything. First the little pup, and now Buttercup the cat. IF THAT IS HER REAL NAME.

Sam Claflin
, Finnick Odair

Full disclosure, I have no idea if this photo was actually taken from set. But let’s pretend. Yeah?

Jeffrey Wright
, Beetee

Lightning bolt: the official Emoji of Beetee.

Francis Lawrence
, Director

Things started getting real when the director, Francis Lawrence, began live tweeting their final moments on set.

Take us home, Nina.

THIS is the Mockingjay photo of the moment seen ‘round the world. Nina Jacobson strikes again. I guess all that’s left to do now is see the films—and introduce Jennifer Lawrence to social media.
