The Best Actress nominees hugged it out last night after losing, and it’s everything

In every category, there can only be one winner — but for the Best Actress nominees from the 2018 Oscars, there seem to be no hard feelings. Saoirse Ronan, Meryl Streep, Sally Hawkins, and Margot Robbie participated in group hug that’s making our hearts swell.
The winner this year was Frances McDormand for her portrayal of Mildred Hayes in the film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. (The film was also nominated for Best Picture but lost out to The Shape of Water.) McDormand’s speech for the win was one of the most talked-about moments of the night. She honored every female nominee in the room (literally making them stand up for applause) and then passionately discussed the importance of inclusion — both in front of and behind the camera.
And as much as we loved the speech, we’re also loving this big ol’ “losers” hug that took place after (though let’s be real, every single one of these nominees is a winner…cheesy but TRUE). And Twitter was all about it, too.

Robbie and Ronan, who worked together on the upcoming film Mary Queen of Scots, have an extremely special friendship, which means they just may turn into the new celebrity BFF couple to watch (also here for it).

We’re so glad these talented ladies kept things so positive, and we know they will each have plenty more Oscar nominations in the years to come.
