Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor just announced their divorce, and our hearts go out to them
In today’s sad news, longtime celebrity couple Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor announced they will be getting a divorce. The duo has been together for 17 years, and has two children together.
What makes the breakup all the more heartbreaking? All the on-screen appearances they’ve made together over the years — Zoolander, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Tropic Thunder, Arrested Development, and Zoolander 2. Watching these comedy gems will now forever retain a bittersweet note.
Ben and Christine announced the news Friday in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Luckily, the split appears to be a mutually amicable one.
"With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate," Ben and Christine said in a statement to ET. "Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends. We kindly ask that the media respect our privacy at this time."
When it comes to relationships, as long as they’re happy, we’re happy. And we’re so thrilled to hear they will continue to co-parent their two kids, Ella Olivia, 15, and Quinlin Dempsey, 11. (Aren’t those just the cutest names ever?)
It’s always important to remember that the rep Hollywood gets for divorces is pretty understandable. After all, it’s a business where months and months apart and 14 hour days are common. It’s not hard to see why the stress and work level might pull couples apart, even ones who seem very happy together. Marriage is hard, y’all.
Best of luck, Ben and Christine!
