It’s Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day! Here’s what that means for you and ice cream.

Happy Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day, Gigglers! Since 1979, Ben & Jerry’s has picked a single day out of the year to spread the love of dairy-churned goodness, and that day is today. No need for coupons or other purchases, just wait in line, request your flavor, and enjoy the happiness that is free ice cream.

It’s also the perfect opportunity to try a new flavor. I think I might go for “The Tonight Dough” – Caramel & Chocolate Ice Creams with Chocolate Cookie Swirls & Gobs of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough & Peanut Butter Cookie Dough. And Jimmy Fallon’s smiling face.

Things to know:

– You can receive your free cone between 12 pm – 8 pm (Don’t end up behind the “Last in Line” sign like I did last year. It’s a terrible feeling.).

– You can reassure yourself that you can “Do Good by Eating Free Ice Cream” – Ben & Jerry’s supports marriage equality and reducing our carbon footprint.

– You can find out where the closest, participating Scoop Shop is here (it’s happening all over the world).

– You can probably sneak into line again (and again and again), but one cone per person is recommended. There has to be enough to spread the love!

Still need more ice cream in your life? Journey up to the Ben & Jerry’s factory in Waterbury, Vermont and see where the magic happens. You can also pay your respects to “pints past” in the Flavor Graveyard.

Upon these grounds, you will find such fallen flavors as “Vermonty Python,” “Bovinity Divinity,” and “Dastardly Mash.” I personally mourn the loss of “Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Frozen Yogurt” and wish I had the chance to try “Coconutterly Fair.”

Sigh.

The only cure for this sadness is FREE ICE CREAM. Go get yours.
