Ben Affleck might not direct the new Batman movie, and say what now?
We won’t lie: We’re anticipating Wonder Woman more than any other DC movie. Can you blame us? Still, though, we’re keeping an eye on news regarding other DC universe films.
In a Batman movie update from Ben Affleck, we learned that the actor-director may not be helming this upcoming film. We knew that Affleck feels the solo Batman film has to be just right before he’ll make it – but we didn’t know he might not be the one to make it. After all, he basically unveiled the super original title for the latest Batman movie already.
Apparently this new film, tentatively entitled, The Batman may or may not happen. Though Affleck’s set to act and direct (and write and produce) the movie, things seem malleable. In a recent interview with The Guardian, the actor revealed he may just be in front of the camera for this one.
Asked about his role as director on the new Batman film, Affleck said, “That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.
This is definitely startling. Affleck’s involvement in the movie seemed like a sure thing! Now, it appears he may not direct it at all and it also seems unclear whether or not he’d still appear in the film. Though, since he’s in Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League, it seems like he’ll still be acting in a Batman solo film. Though, again, it might come down to the quality of the piece.
We certainly didn’t see this coming, but we appreciate his honesty. He did recently tell EW that he would only make a Batman film if it was something “special,” and it seems he’s sticking to that. In fact, there’s no release date set for the film at all.
All we know is we’ll definitely be seeing Ben Affleck as Batman in the Justice League film (which comes out next November), and we CAN’T WAIT!
