The internet is going crazy over Ben Affleck’s DVD commentary for “Armageddon”

Waaaay back in 1998, before he was Batman (and a director), Ben Affleck acted in a ~little~ movie called Armageddon. This Criterion Collection (seriously!) film about a group of blue-collar drillers who save Earth from a giant asteroid was a huge hit back in the day, and even spawned a hit song.

While the blockbuster garnered a ton of fans, Affleck – the star of the film – made pretty clear (in a joking way) during his DVD commentary how he really felt about the plot.

Lucky for us, Twitter user @u_sylvie recently posted this snippet, and it has since gone viral. false

The video starts with Ben recounting a story where he asked Michael Bay (the director) why it was easier to train oil drillers to be astronauts, rather than training astronauts to be oil drillers (seems like a fair question), to which Bay responded, “Shut your mouth.”

The rest of the commentary is pretty LOL, as Ben calls it exactly how he sees it.

Like how NASA scientists wouldn’t understand Bruce Willis’ character’s “salt of the earth ways.”

And when NASA explains they’ve been training for eight months to drill, and Bruce says, “eight WHOLE months?”

Basically, Ben makes a lot of good points throughout his commentary.

As you can see, this snippet has only made audiences want MORE.

Sadly, you’re gonna have to get in line with everyone else if you want to hear the rest, because the Criterion Collection version of Armageddon (where we’re assuming this commentary is from) has since SOLD OUT on Amazon.

Damn. But hopefully we’ll get more entertaining DVD commentary from Affleck in the future…Gigli, anyone?
