It’s true, Ben Affleck is thinking about directing a Batman movie
As everyone knows by now, Ben Affleck is our new Batman in the forthcoming DC films Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and The Justice League Part One and Part Two.
However, we just found out that Affleck, in addition to starring as Master Wayne, might also take up the directing mantle for a future Batman film.
So here’s what went down. There were rumors this summer that The Batfleck was planning on co-writing, directing, and starring in a Batman solo film. At the time, Warner Bros. had no comment. Affleck recently spoke to USA Today about Batman v Superman, and when his interviewer brought up the rumor of Affleck auteuring his own superhero movie, his response gave fans hope:
“I’ll just say going through the process, I would never have imagined that I could or would direct a movie like this. And in working with (Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder) and seeing what he did and watching him every day, I got really inspired by that and by seeing the scope on which he was telling the story, by seeing what he was able to do with this kind of mythic story on a grand scale.”
You guys. YOU GUYS. “I’ll just say” is always celebrity code for “The rumors are true but I’m not allowed to say anything.” You guys. Ben Affleck is a known auteur, and it looks like sometime in the future he’s going to auteur a Batfleck movie!
We will remain excited until given reason to feel otherwise.
