Because we drink and we know things, we tried the newest “Game of Thrones” beer

In the spirit of Tyrion Lannister, we’ve got just the thing to pass the time between now and Game of Thrones Season 7 — Game of Thrones beer.

In a beautiful partnership — think, like Dany and Yara — HBO Global Licensing and Brewery Ommegang have teamed up for a Game of Thrones-inspired release that is perfect for anyone looking to add a little liquid courage to their quest, or even while they’re re-binging Game of Thrones. No judgement.

The beer, Bend the Kneeis a nod to the fact that someone, eventually, is going to have to bend before a new king (OR QUEEN) in King’s Landing. The beer comes in three different bottles, and while what’s inside is all the same, each one feature a prominent Westeros houses vying for power.

“We love the idea of a golden ale to kick off the summer and to keep fans engaged as they wait for Game of Thrones to return, Josh Goodstadt, Vice President of Global Licensing and Retail for HBO, explained in a press release. “With the story focusing in on these three major houses—Stark, Lannister and Targaryen—we’re excited to give fans the chance to align themselves with their favorite house as they sip this latest brew.

Okay, so guess that means Lyanna Mormont isn’t our future queen, but let’s not focus on that right now —  we’ve still got 53 days to obsess over what she’s up to in Winterfell. For now, let’s turn our attention to this beer, which HBO was nice enough to send HelloGiggles.

Pulling a true Cersei, we immediately cracked open a bottle to try it out.

After taking an office poll, we decided to open up the Targaryen bottle, even though all three bottles are the same flavor. We just wanted to feel a ‘lil bit like Dany, okay? The beer — a little bit sweet, a little bit fruity, a dash of honey and some hop bitterness — was an instant hit.

Social Media Producer Anna was quick to exclaim, “That’s tasty! Can I keep this?” Beauty Editor Marie instantly fell in love with it, and remarked that it tasted exactly like her favorite kind of beer (and then asked if she could have the rest of the bottle).

Features Editor Rachel said the beer tasted “fine,” but followed up with explaining that she doesn’t really like beer — and that’s fine! Same goes for Associate Editor Anna. No strong feelings one way or another, but still happily drank it.

And did we finish off the rest of the bottle? Yes.

Bend the Knee is available *right now* with a suggested retail price of $9.99 in a collectible 750ml corked bottle. It joins the ranks with some other pretty great Game of Thrones beverages, like Brewery Ommegang’s Fire and Blood and Valar Morghulis. Yes and yes. There’s also the Game of Thrones Brewery Ommegang Growler, so you’ve got options.

And, hint hint, don’t forget to snag the perfect drinkware, too.
