Attention everyone! Beauty’s Beast has been cast (and no, it’s not Ryan Gosling)

Disney’s live adaptation of Beauty and the Beast officially has a Beast! According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dan Stevens has been cast to star opposite Emma Watson in the musical remake. Although there were rumors that everyone’s boyfriend Ryan Gosling was in talks to play the role (as was Eddie Redmayne!), we’re still pretty psyched about the decision to go with Stevens.

Dan Stevens will be familiar to (still heartbroken) Downton Abbey fans for his role as Matthew Crawley, the former heir to the Grantham estate. He’s also part of the acclaimed web series High Maintenance. After leaving Downton (R.I.P. Cousin Matthew), Stevens transitioned to film with his role in The Guest, as well the upcoming Night at the Museum: Secrets of the Tomb and A Walk Among the Tombstones. And now he can add Disney star to his growing list list of projects.

Stevens joins Emma Watson, who Disney cast as Belle after reading all of our minds and deciding to make our dreams come true. Seriously, we are so excited. First with Hermione Granger and now with Belle, Watson is bringing our favorite bookish heroines to life! And, of course, it helps that she is just as amazing in real life as she is on screen.

Meanwhile, Luke Evans has been cast to play Gaston, Belle’s villainous would-be-suitor. Evans was a star of the London stage before breaking into films. He’s since starred in Clash of the TitansDracula Untold, and The Hobbit.

The casting on this movie has been so strong so far, we cannot wait to see how it all comes together! So, Disney, can we maybe get an ETA on a trailer? Please?
