Awards season is upon us and as I cuddled up to watch the Emmy’s Red Carpet last week, I was doing what any other fashion blogger was doing – judging, but in the nicest way possible. Isn’t that what the pre-show is for? From a fashion standpoint, I was really blown away by some celebs – shout out to the always gorg Sophia Vergara and Zooey Deschanel, and really saddened by others. Gowns aside, I was fixated on how the stars wore their hair. Call me crazy, but I swear there were way more short styles gracing the Carpet than ever before! It could totally just be me trying to assimilate with similarly coifed celebs, but you guys; I think people are really loving the bob right now.

Thinking about taking the plunge, but feeling a little unsure? Girl, I feel you. But, with summer beach waves in the rear view mirror, there’s no better time to experiment! Rewind to 3 weeks ago and you’d find me feeling the same way sitting in the salon chair waving goodbye to almost 8 inches worth of hair – and by waving, I more realistically mean, flailing my hands in a fit of sheer panic at the thought of maybe, just maybe, looking like a boy.

Well, I’m here, almost a month later, and I can proudly, and without hesitation, say that I still (thankfully) look like a female, after all, this “drastic” chop I’m talking about only really resulted in a cut most closely resembling a “lob” or “long bob” similar to the chic looks of these leading ladies.

Kate. Mara. I can’t. It’s like she’s looking into my soul. How beautiful is she? The makeup, the sleek, side-parted bob, the dress… this girl has all sorts of modern magic going on right now. If seeing this doesn’t quiet our “over exaggerating” and “hypercritical” hair gene, I don’t know what will. Hair stylist: Alex Polillo

January Jones was looking so old Hollywood with this chic wavy bob. Her hairstylist, Renato Campora, says that he used a half-inch curling iron to achieve the curls, then brushed them out to get those enviable soft face-framing waves. Ugh, how? Brushing out my curls definitely doesn’t look this glam. See: Lion (n).

Julianna Margulies was the biggest prankster of the night. That, my friends, is not, I repeat, is not, a true bob. She legitimately has long hair, but her hairstylist created the illusion of shorter tresses by tying her hair in a loose pony at the nape of her neck and then taking the shorter pieces and tapering them off behind her ears. Michelle Dockery’s polished bob is perfection. My hair doesn’t look that silky, that shiny, that healthy, or that voluminous, like, ever. Hairstylist Mara Roszak for L’Oreal Paris knows what’s up in those departments.

Though a new routine will without fail take some getting used to, I am finally warming up to this more professional style, and dare I say that my hair is MUCH healthier? It’s funny how everything can fall into place, hair included. What is your favorite Fall hair trend?
