Okay, we LOVE experimenting with our nails. But Cosmo just let us know that succulent nails are apparently a thing now and we don’t know how to feel. Plenty of nail art trends have popped up this year, from inspiring minimalistic nail designs to more adventurous pom-pom nails, and succulent nails, as in tiny plants living on our nails, definitely offer something we haven’t seen before. Where did this come from, you ask?

Australian artist Roz Borg is responsible for this interesting trend, and if you’re wondering how she got into this unusual type of nail art — she’s been using succulents in her jewelry for a while, and one day decided to glue baby succulents onto a false nail using an adhesive.

Once it’s attached to her real nail, the results are…interesting. Seriously, take a look!

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Borg commented on the inherent humor associated with succulent nail art.

We’re not really grossed out, but let’s just admit that this isn’t the most practical solution to pretty nails (and Borg notes that it takes a long time to apply). Ideal for a party though, or to try something different and surprise your friends!

Aside from the novelty aspect, Borg notes the benefits to succulent nails.

We’ll try anything once… green thumb here we come!
