If there’s one pesky thing in life that we wish just didn’t exist, it’s acne. Seriously. But the good news is, it’s something we can almost all relate to, and sometimes we even find a helpful tip or two out there thanks to the ol’ internet. And one beauty pageant contestant just shared her acne story, as well as how she finally got the issue under control.

In a super vulnerable (and relatable) Instagram post, Rachel Crawley opened up about her struggles with severe acne. She noted that acne had taken a toll on her mental health in the past, stressing the fact that, “Remember that everyone has [their] struggles in life. Most of us choose not share them. Most people with acne don’t share it because there ashamed, but why should we it’s only a stage in our life it won’t last forever and it certainly doesn’t make us any less of a person.”

HERE HERE!

She then went on to share that eliminating refined sugar and simple carbs, and eventually going vegan, has helped her skin immensely. She said she stopped having acne breakouts after just a few days of eating differently, and that’s when it clicked.

What does she eat for lunch if NOT anything with sugar and carbs?

That actually sounds delicious, whether you’re thinking of eating healthier to combat acne or not! She went on to write,

“If you feel in your body there is a link between the foods your eating and your acne this is something to take a look at. Foods high in sugar can cause hormonal imbalance it’s all connected! When making food choices you still want to be choosing natural whole foods and nothing processed.”

And  if you’re thinking of making a similar change but know you’ll be craving sweets, Crawley even has a suggestion for that. Raw cocoa almond peanut cashew butter cups!

All those ingredients get the yes vote from us, and we’ve gotta say they look divine.

Eating healthful foods can be a struggle for sure, but there’s no denying it can reap some major benefits.

Thanks for the inspo, Rachel!
