Selena Gomez's shattered glass manicure was the most underrated beauty moment of the Met Gala
With the gratuitous amount of extraordinary gowns wafting down the 2017 Met Gala’s red carpet the other night, we *nearly* missed this incredible beauty moment. And it comes courtesy of one of our favorite sartorial superstars: Selena Gomez!
The 24-year-old actress took fashion’s biggest night out by storm last night, donning a dainty lace Coach slip dress. While that the dress, not to mention Selena’s stunning red eye shadow, were showstoppers in and of themselves, it was her pristine manicure that caught our eye.
Just look at the sparkle and shine of those nails below. They’re nothing short of transcendent!
Of course, from Ms. Gomez we expect no less. The 13 Reasons Why EP never fails to hit it out of the park when it comes to her instinct for beauty and fashion (or anything else, for that matter!), and her shattered glass mani is just further proof of that.
Crafted by celebrity “man”-icurist Tom Bachik (get it?!), the iridescent manicure is what he describes as “simply romantic and chic.” Don’t be fooled by the name, though, because there’s nothing simple about this badass treatment. To achieve the look, Bachik incorporated fractured glass and then added Swarovski beads to catch the light and create an inner glow.
The effect is *seriously* worth the effort.
If that’s not genius, we don’t know what is![/suheader]
Now, if Tom Bachik rings a bell, it’s probably because you’ve seen his work dozens of times in the past. He’s one of Hollywood’s nail artist elites and is regularly responsible for the pristine talons of Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and more. Most recently, we were gushing over the museum-worthy bandana nail art he created for Selena’s Vogue cover shoot.
While there were *way* too many best dressed folks at the Met Gala to count, we’re going to go ahead and hand over the (unofficial) award for best manicure to Selena.
