Rowan Blanchard's new pixie cut is very '90s Winona Ryder
We’re only a week into the New Year, and Rowan Blanchard has gone and provided us with the ultimate hair inspo to bring to our next hair appointment. The 17-year-old actress recently debuted a chic new pixie cut, and we honestly can’t believe she didn’t do this sooner. The new ‘d0, which, as Refinery29 points out, is very ’90s Winona Ryder circa Girl, Interrupted, looks stunning paired with Blanchard’s bold red lip and glossy eye makeup.
Rowan Blanchard’s pixie is courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Laurie Heaps, who posted the finished look on Instagram and captioned the photo, “Left the bob in 2018.” How’s that for “New Year, new you”?
Let’s compare it to Ryder’s hairstyle in the 1999 film. Pretty spot-on, right?
Heaps also shared that Blanchard “said the haircut ‘actualized her identity.’ That’s when I knew I had done something really special. These are the moments I live for in my work.”
The stylist, who also works with Ashley Tisdale and Danielle Fishel, told Refinery 29, “We were inspired by Mia Farrow, Edie Sedgwick, and Natalie Portman. But I didn’t want to imitate the pixies of the past.”
“I wanted to give it more edge, more attitude. I think all big changes are driven by emotions,” she said. “Hair holds so much energy. Rowan was literally cutting off the old and starting anew.” BRB, calling our hairstylists now.
