Edgy and sexy cosmetics brand Smith & Cult recently hosted their first “Beauty U” event in New York and imparted some serious beauty knowledge!

Smith & Cult first brought us a gorgeous nail polish line in 2014, and have since followed up with a collection of makeup (including this life-changing mascara) that embodies the brand’s dichotomy of edginess and sophistication. The company was founded by the creators of Hard Candy, Dineh Mohajer and Jeanne Chavez. In keeping with the brand’s philosophy of duality, the two women have different lifestyles and personalities — Jeanne is “Smith”, a mom with a refined style, and Dineh is “Cult”, inspired by music and a rock n’ roll aesthetic. But neither is confined to labels, and both influence each other while coming together in the name of color and beauty.

Jeanne hosted the event at Pucker, a makeup and eyelash studio in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. Celebrity makeup artist Ashlee Glazer was in the house giving makeup lessons using the brand’s latest eye and lip products. Ashlee schooled us on spring trends for day and night using Smith & Cult’s Book of Eyes eyeshadow palettes to create a gorgeous smoky eye.

The Ice Tears palette is thee most gorgeous collection of blues.

Behold the Tainted Lovesucker lippie.

You can grab it here for $24.

Celebrity nail artist Sarah Bland was on hand (okay, that’s a nail pun AND it rhymes) for quickie manicures using Smith & Cult’s newest nail polish shades. Sarah does Beyonce’s nails, so she’s obviously a heavy hitter in the nail game!

Hostesses with the mostest.

Attendees received goodie bags with products and discounts on services at Pucker. Of course, it’s not a party without champagne, cupcakes and whoopie pies!

The shadow palettes are available from Smith & Cult for $44 each.

The Soft Shock palette has serious disco vibes.
