Item of the Day: Design History
I tend to base my overall cheeriness on whether or not I can wear a sweater that day. Sounds a little loco, right? Let me break it down. If it’s sweater weather, that means it’s cool outside. Not too hot, not too cold – just right. And if it’s not hot, I don’t have to a) expose my pale, almost translucent skin, and b) I won’t be sweating uncomfortably. I can choose a cute, cozy outfit and I can drink tea and read a book. It’s all about balance.
Design History is my new brand obsession – particularly for spring apparel. Spring and fall are the two seasons with a balanced, happy temperature, and their sweaters and tops are just amazing. They tend to take basic looks and add soft, quality fabric, with subtle modern touches. I bought one of their sweater dresses for winter and looking at their spring selection, I now have a whole new list of items I need to buy. Some of their dresses and sweaters are a little pricey (in the $100 range), but I found some great markdowns online at Neiman Marcus. And really, the quality is outstanding, so if you’re looking to splurge, whatever you by will last you long enough to justify the cost.
