I haven’t worn makeup in months. There doesn’t seem to be much point when no one can tell what I look like under my face mask, anyway. But when beauty brand Charlotte Tilbury announced it would be launching a new mascara, I couldn’t help but perk up. Tilbury’s list of famous fans is long, featuring Amal Clooney, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, Kate Moss, and Olivia Wilde, among many others. It seems everyone from Hollywood A-listers to college students can’t get enough of the glamorous products, which have won 268 awards to date.
Over 45,000 Charlotte Tilbury fans signed up for the waiting list for the new Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes, which launched August 26 and is now available at Sephora. Lucky me, I got to try the new Charlotte Tilbury mascara a week ahead of its official release—and I quickly fell in love.
During the Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes virtual press preview, Charlotte Tilbury explained that the mascara’s formula is the result of 27 years of meticulous research. Tilbury’s fascination with mascara began when she was 13 and would stare at photos of Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn, counting each of their individual lashes. She became determined to create the perfect mascara—a product that would replicate the lush lashes of Old Hollywood actresses. The formula would have to be “glossy and healthy, not crumbly and dry” and come in a jet-black shade.
All Tilbury’s hard work paid off with the Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes ($29, sephora.com), which volumizes, lengthens, and lifts lashes at the same time. What makes this mascara so special is its novel brush that includes a flat side for loading the lashes with product and a bristle side for combing it through. The bristles are also diamond-shaped, following the eye’s geometry to create magnified, amplified lashes.
The powerful formula includes polymer for lifting lashes, carnauba wax for adding body, and kerestone for conditioning and thickening each individual hair. For extra definition, you can apply several coats of the black mascara, using a zig-zag motion through your lashes. And the formula is smudge- and humidity-proof, which is a huge plus during warmer weather.
Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes is my new favorite mascara because it gives my lashes the perfect amount of intensity and definition. I’m a firm believer that less is more when it comes to makeup, and I find that this mascara gives my eyes a subtle pop without being overpowering. The formula avoids the dreaded problems of clumping, running, and “racoon eyes,” so I can even wear it during hikes. And the mascara is easy to take off with the help of my Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm—there’s no annoying residue left over the next day.
Thanks to Charlotte Tilbury, I’m falling back in love with makeup, with Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes topping my list. I now have a three-step makeup routine before Facetiming my friends: I moisturize with the brand’s Magic Cream, dab on some Pillow Talk Lipstick, and top it all off with a couple coats of Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes. Below, you can scoop up some of Charlotte Tilbury’s new mascara for yourself. With three Pillow Talk products selling every minute, Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes will likely be another best-seller, so scurry to checkout before it sells out.
