Smashbox Cosmetics found inspiration for their latest blending tool at the tip of their fingers, and it’s pretty brilliant.
Beauty blenders are a staple in every makeup kit. There are so many options to choose from: silicone, sponge, and DIY versions from the bizarre to the hilarious. Some say that it’s unsanitary to use one’s hands for makeup application, but sometimes it’s just so much easier to cover every little detail and corner with the finger technique.
Enter the Smashbox Photo Filter Gel Cushion Applicator. The diamond-shaped, flexible, cruelty-free tool promises a smooth and natural application of your favorite primers and “liquid complexion products.” (Smashbox and otherwise.)
It’s like your fingers…but better?
Not to be confused with the gel cushions in your running shoes, the applicator has a gel-like texture and an ergonomic shape to best hit every corner of your face. The doodad features fingertip-like grooves that effectively holds foundation for applying and blending with ease. The blender washes clean easily with soap and water.
Don’t worry — the applicator won’t leave fingerprints on your face. Using your fingers actually wastes more product than using a blender, because creams and liquids can be absorbed into the skin. Smashbox claims that the gel cushion uses even less product than other blenders on the market.
Will this blender replace our sponges and brushes? We’re planning to keep our fingers, but this is a cool upgrade.
