17 beauty products HelloGiggles’ editors couldn’t live without in 2015
HelloGiggles’ editorial staff picks out some of their go-to, must-have-in-my-bag, beauty faves of the year.
Urban Decay’s Revolution lipsticks, $22
“I’m a big fan of Urban Decay’s Revolution lipsticks—F-Bomb is one of my go-to statement reds—and so I was pretty amped about their line of Revolution Matte lipsticks that came this year. I particularly love the warm-leaning Temper and the dramatic dark red Bad Blood.” –Margaret Eby, Features Editor
Glossier Boy Brow, $16
“I’m notoriously pretty low maintenance (re: lazy) when it comes to makeup, so I like to keep things simple if I wear anything at all. But even though I don’t use a ton of product, I do have a lot of feelings about brows — and Boy Brow is the answer to all my prayers. Boy Brow tames the beasts above my eyes without making them look overdone, and the final effect is super natural. The pigmented pomade/wax fills in the gaps while keeping brows looking groomed and clean. It’s a must-have.” – Gina Mei, Assistant Editor
Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt perfume, $65-$125
“This year, I was determined to find my signature, everyday scent. While nothing can compare to my evening fragrance of choice (Atelier’s Vetiver Fatale, FYI), I needed something a little lighter for the daytime — and Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt is it. For anyone who prefers woods to florals, this scent has all the amazingness of something a little more earthy without all of the weight. I’m in love.” – Gina Mei, Assistant Editor
Heritage Rosewater and Glycerin Spray, $6.61
“This refreshing spray became one of the most beloved products in the HelloGiggles office this year. Not only does it help keep your face feeling moisturized and dewy, but it also smells absolutely amazing. At about $6 a pop, it’s a steal — and you’ll want to spray it non-stop all day. (It’s great for super sensitive skin, too.)” – Gina Mei, Assistant Editor
Boscia Sake Brightening mask, $15
“I never liked facials much because I never feel like I’m doing it right — did I put on too much or too little, will it ever dry, blast it, I just scratched my face and ruined everything, and so on and so forth. But this year I discovered sheet masks, and they’re so easy and effective, I totally love slapping these slimy masks on and then taking them off like a half-hour later and having brand new skin. I love all the Boscia masks, but if I had to choose one, it would be the Sake Brightening mask, because it real-talk works, and also because I love the idea of putting fun alcohol all over my face.” – Kit Steinkellner, Senior Writer
Freeman Feeling Beautiful Polishing Mask, Charcoal & Black Sugar, $3.99
“This mask is under $5 but seriously leaves your skin looking like a million bucks. Bonus: if you accidentally get some in your mouth, you can taste that it’s made with real sugar. Don’t ask me how I know that.”
Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil, $49
Though pricy, this stuff works so well. Put this on your ends and dry shampoo on your roots, and you can go a few extra days without washing your hair!
Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream, $42
“The coverage of this CC cream is miraculously both lightweight and powerful — definitely great for those of us with persnickety, easily angered pores. It kind of smells like sunscreen, but at least it will make you feel like you have red carpet ready skin.”
Christina Lashes, $12.95
“These rando Amazon finds have super thin strips and lusciously full lashes that somehow make the whole glueing fake hair to your face thing easier to pull off.” –Christina Wolfgram, Video
Benefit’s Gimme Brow, $24
Benefit’s brush-on fiber gel not only keeps brows in place, but it fills them in with natural color.
Josie Maran Argan sunscreen, $32
Leaves your skin protected and NOT greasy, which is more than what anyone could want in a sunscreen.
Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Primer, $48
This primer you can wear with or without foundation —it makes your skin look healthier and it gives it a super natural glow. – Leonora Epstein, Executive Editor
Tom Ford Wild Ginger lipstick, $52
“The best red-orange shade you will ever find, and yes it is worth the fifty-two dollar price tag. Also? It stays on FOREVER.”
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner, $18
“If you want Alexa Chung-worthy cat-eye, or just liquid eyeliner that is effortless and super easy to use, this will be your go-to forever.”
