BBC just introduced the 13th Doctor in “Doctor Who,” and you’re going to love her(!!!!!)

We will finally have a female Doctor! Jodie Whittaker will become the 13th Doctor on Doctor Who. Whittaker, who is known for her role on Broadchurch, will be taking on the role after Peter Capaldi leaves the show. Since the announcement from BBC earlier today, the Internet has been abuzz with their opinions and takes on the 13th Doctor‘s casting decision.

Chris Chibanall, aka Broadchurch‘s creator, will also be joining Doctor Who as the new head writer and executive producer. “After months of lists, conversations, auditions, recalls, and a lot of secret-keeping, we’re excited to welcome Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor,” he shared. “Jodie is an in-demand, funny, inspiring, super-smart force of nature and will bring loads of wit, strength and warmth to the role. The 13th Doctor is on her way.”

While many people thing it’s about time a woman was cast on Doctor Who, others unfortunately can’t wrap their minds around it.

Some people seem to think that Whittaker was cast only for politically correct reasons because she’s a woman. But, come on, the Doctor is an alien who can travel space and time and is over 1,000 years old. And they can change into whatever form they want. This tweet spells it out plainly.

This show has so many fantastic and out of this world storylines, the fact that the Doctor hasn’t been a woman doesn’t make any sense. false

The 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi, is also pumped about the decision, telling the BBC:

"Anyone who has seen Jodie Whittaker's work will know that she is a wonderful actress of great individuality and charm. She has above all the huge heart to play this most special part. She's going to be a fantastic Doctor."

If the Doctor supports it, we definitely do!

We can’t wait to see what Whittaker has in store for us.

When asked about her role, Whittaker said:

“I’m beyond excited to begin this epic journey – with Chris and with every Whovian on this planet. It’s more than an honour to play the Doctor. It means remembering everyone I used to be, while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can’t wait.

Whittaker summed it up perfectly. The show is about creating hope when all seems lost. And now we get to see a woman save Earth and the universe. We can’t wait to see what kind of Doctor she is!
