There’s going to be an R-rated version of “Batman v Superman,” so thanks “Deadpool”

The running time for Batman v Superman is already pretty long at 151 minutes, but if you’re looking for more footage, and more R-rated footage, you’re in luck! For today’s, “Why Not?” on the Blu-ray release of the movie (sometime in the future) there’ll be a longer director’s cut of the movie that includes more footage, and way more R-rated footage.

Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman is currently rated PG-13 for “intense sequences of violence and action throughout, and some sensuality.” That’s pretty common for a PG-13 movie, and especially common for a superhero movie. And then Deadpool had to come along, and shatter all preconceived ideas about superheroes ratings, and now it looks like the new trend is going to be pushing the ratings envelope just a little bit further into R-rated territory. As Deadpool has proved over the past few weekends, the crowds still come out even when a parent or guardian is required to see the movie.

The movie we’ll see in theaters won’t include anything from the R-rated territory, so feel free to take your parents, younger siblings, grandmother, anyone who can handle light comic book violence between Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent. But the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition, will include it ALL.

It sounds like this extra R-rated footage will simply be longer and include more graphic “sequences of violence,” not like the gore and profanity we saw in Deadpool. But, it’s still interesting that more caped crusaders are jumping on this R-rated trend, so it’s your move Captain America (even though he’s going to have issues with all the “LANGUAGE!”)
