Baseball Star Outraged Flight Attendant Didn’t Clean His Kids’ Mess

“Just because you’re rich doesn’t mean everyone is your servant. I hope this helps,” replied one Twitter user.

Odds are you won’t see Toronto Blue Jays player Anthony Bass on an United Airlines flight anytime soon. The pro baseballer riddled the airline to filth on Twitter following a popcorn incident between his pregnant wife and a flight attendant. Allegedly, Sydney Rae James, who also happens to be the sister of country music artist Jesse James Decker, was asked to clean up the spilled popcorn underneath her kids’ seats prior to landing.

Seeing as how his wife is 22 weeks pregnant with their third child, Bass found the situation abhorrent and naturally, took to Twitter.

“The flight attendant @united just made my 22 week pregnant wife traveling with a 5 year old and 2 year old get on her hands and knees to pick up the popcorn mess by my youngest daughter,” Bass tweeted Sunday, April 16. “Are you kidding me?!?!”

For good measure, Bass also included a photo of the crime scene, which shows his two sweet kiddos enjoying their popcorn-studded flight. In the last 48 hours, his tweet has garnered over five million views and nearly 10,000 comments on Reddit — and the roast has ironically turned on Bass himself.

“Lol and you took pics instead of cleaning up after your own kid. Really weird to share this,” one person commented. Another said in agreement, “Did you not feel like you could step in and pick it up on your wives behalf? Men can also clean, not sure if you are aware? That would have been more productive than taking pictures and tweeting.”

Others are rushing to the flight attendant’s defense, noting it isn’t their duty to pick up after a passenger’s kids. “Commercial airlines are not your children’s playground. Pick it up and take responsibility for your kids,” a user said.

“A flight attendant is there for safety, not to pick up after you or your children,” tweeted Amy Kremer, a former flight attendant. “People are idiots. They really think flight attendants are there just to serve drinks and food.”

“These idiots better hope there is never an emergency where a slide has to be deployed, aircraft evacuated and someone needs to save their ass,” she added.

On Monday, Bass shared on Twitter that “United Airlines is taking care of matters with the flight attendant internally.” He also thanked his (small) army of fans for their support and concern for James.
