Barack Obama and Joe Biden grabbed lunch at a cafe, and the video of them ordering is #DADGOALS

On July 30th, our coolest two uncles Barack Obama and Joe Biden grabbed lunch at Georgetown’s Dog Tag Bakery. Biden ordered a sandwich. Obama had what Biden was having, plus a salad. It was so chill and nostalgic we almost forgot what year it was.

Obama and Biden, dressed in slacks and relaxed button-downs, not-so-discreetly showed up at the Dog Tag, a D.C. nonprofit that helps military vets, spouses, and caregivers learn about working in the restaurant industry. Obama shook fellow customers’ hands while Biden asked if he could get some extra mustard on his sammy.

The boys are back in town, and we’ve missed them so hard.

According to The Washington Post, America’s dads only stuck around for about 10 minutes — enough time to catch up on the important stuff, chuckle at a few old inside jokes, and perhaps share that feta salad Obama ordered.

"It was really just such an uplifting moment for everybody," Dog Tag Bakery chief executive Meghan Ogilvie told The Post.

We admittedly would have loved to be a fly on the wall for this convo. (“How’s Michelle/Jill?,” “How’s your summer been?,” “Are you caught up on Season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale?”) We’d also like to believe that perhaps Obama and Biden were talking politics. Word on the street is that the former president has formed a committee that’s “preparing to mobilize for the 2018 midterm campaign,” as The New York Times reported in June.

(We’ll keep our fan theories to ourselves for now, but seeing the former leaders of the free world together again revived us.)

Flanked by their secret service detail, Obama and Biden left Dog Tag and were immediately swallowed by a sea of supporters. They stopped to chat with a few before diving back into their rides.

We’re so glad Obama and Biden still keep in touch, and we look forward to witnessing the next family reunion.
