Bachelor Nation is LIVID with Arie after the “Bachelor” finale, and here are the funniest mean tweets to prove it
During the Season 22 finale of The Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk Jr. popped the question and seemed to have finally found his true love with publicist Becca Kufrin — but then, the real drama began. For weeks prior to the episode’s airing, host Chris Harrison had been hyping up the finale, calling it “phenomenal” and “mind-blowing.” While it wouldn’t have been surprising if Harrison were just working tirelessly to promote an exciting conclusion to the season, especially since Bachelor Nation felt lukewarm at best about Arie as the title bachelor, what actually happened *was* “mind-blowing” but also incredibly hard to watch, and more than a little cruel.
Arie had already broken the cardinal Bachelor rule by telling not one, not two, but three women that he loved them.
And during the finale, he became the worst bachelor of all time. Moments after viewers saw Arie and Becca become engaged, the race-car driver revealed in an interview that despite being newly engaged to Becca, he can’t stop thinking about Lauren B., the runner-up.
Viewers then watched in horror as ABC aired a solid half hour of uncut footage, featuring Arie blindsiding and dumping Becca, who thought they were being filmed as part of a weekend away. Even Bachelor and Bachelorette alums were surprised and outraged at the show’s willingness to humiliate Becca for ratings. JoJo Fletcher, a Bachelor runner-up and former Bachelorette, tweeted, “STOP.FILMING.HER.” Meanwhile former bachelor Sean Lowe, live-tweeted many of his reactions. Like, “I don’t like this one bit. Shouldn’t have filmed.”
Bachelor Nation was, similarly, mortified and angry — at Arie, at Chris (and his smug smile), and at ABC for allowing this nonsense to happen.
