It’s Sunday, so please watch a baby hippo freak completely out about bubbles

What could be more glorious on a lazy Sunday morning than watching baby hippo Fiona freak out over a pile of falling bubbles? We know the internet has no shortage of animals, exhibiting cute reactions to inanimate objects. But this one will simply make your heart melt! So, make yourself a mimosa and climb back into bed. This video is one you’ll wanna hit play over and over again.

Watch as Fiona studies the falling bubbles and the collection of bubbles on the ground. You can see the wheels turning in her head. What are these translucent, falling balls? Can she trust them? Should she approach them? Hippo Fiona doesn’t go near the platform. Instead, she pivots around and scampers away!

Rest assured the good folks at the Cincinnati Zoo are taking good care of this lucky hippo. According to their website, Baby Fiona was born six weeks premature and weighing only 29 pounds. The average birth weight for a hippo is anywhere from 55 to 100 pounds. Sadly, she required critical care for several months. But now, she’s 4 months old, 265 pounds and exercising daily to build her strength. She needs the muscle power to propel to the surface of the pools and to support her body mass.

Watch as the zoo cared for and nursed the underweight hippo baby to exceptional health.

As she grows stronger, she’s able to have more face-to-face interactions with her mom and dad. Of course, a protective barrier is necessary to ensure safety. But she’s gaining strength and swimming and well… living how young, healthy hippos should be living.

Case in point.

Unfortunately, Baby Fiona is not quite ready for her public debut yet. You’ll just have to wait to see this lovely bub in-person.

In the meantime, here’s another pic of hippo Fiona.

Well, we hope your Sunday is significantly brightened by this burst of cutie cuteness.
