The first official photos from Baby Archie’s christening are here, and they’re (almost) too cute for words

Ever since Meghan Markle gave birth to Baby Archie on May 6th, we’ve been grateful for any glimpse of the little royal that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex bless us with. The new parents are already shaking up the status quo by keeping things a bit more private for their firstborn, so we weren’t surprised when reports surfaced that the names of Baby Archie’s godparents would be kept secret, with Buckingham Palace revealing in a statement on July 3rd that his christening would also be a private event. Thankfully, we still got official christening photos, and they are so cute.

According to People, Baby Archie’s christening took place “in a small private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 6th July,” attended by around 25 well-wishers close to the royal family. The statement added that “the Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton,” the same photographer behind their stunning royal wedding pictures.

We didn’t have to wait long to see baby Archie in the iconic royal christening gown, because the couple shared the first official photos from his christening on the same day of the ceremony, July 6th. And naturally, we are swooning over these shots.

The first photo is a group shot featuring family members Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Kate Middleton and Prince William, Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, and Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, surrounding Meghan, Harry, and Baby Archie on his big day.

The second shot is a black-and-white close-up of Archie and his parents, giving us a better glimpse of his adorable little face as he’s cradled by mom and dad.

In the caption, the couple said they are “so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son,” adding their thanks “for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment.”

Of course, this is only the third time we’ve seen Baby Archie since he was born—his first public appearance was days after his birth and the second was his Father’s Day tribute on Instagram—but it seems that Meghan and Harry are hoping to keep their little one’s life as normal and private as possible (and we can’t say we blame them).

We’re just grateful for these photos and hope that all had a fabulous time celebrating Baby Archie. So presh.
