Praise Beysus! There’s a radio station that only plays Beyoncé
Last Wednesday, Houston’s first all-news radio station, News92, had its final broadcast, and, in its place, has been playing Beyoncé music 24/7 until someone comes to purchase the spot.
Yes. You read that right. There is currently a radio station on the air that is exclusively playing Bey. No commercials, no other singers. Just Beyoncé, all the time.
The sad news is that the station shuttered after financial losses and three years of low ratings, which means that people were laid off in the process. Rather than completely shut its doors, however, this new, temporary channel seems to be a way for a few people to keep their jobs until something more substantial comes to take its place. But the station’s decision to transition to an all-Bey channel, if only temporarily, is pretty remarkable.
Luckily, Bey’s career has been vast and glorious, so there is a ton of music to choose from, and we get to enjoy all of it on rotation from now until we don’t know when. The fact that this exists is pretty amazing, and we are taking advantage of it while it lasts.
The aptly renamed B92 has been playing all of the classics non-stop, from your favorite Destiny’s Child songs to tracks she was featured on that even the ultimate Beyoncé aficionado might have forgotten about (I just heard a remix of 50 Cent’s In Da Club with her on it and my brain has yet to completely process it). There are few artists that could realistically get away with having enough music to fill a radio station, but if anyone is up to the task, it’s the Queen Bee. They even fill in some of the breaks between tracks with “fun facts” about her, which is just too good to be real life (except that it’s totally real life). Variations on “all Beyoncé, all the time,” seems to be B92’s new slogan of choice, but, personally, I like my version better.

Here’s hoping that Beyoncé buys out the radio station so it stays this way forever (because if it becomes a legitimate radio station, hopefully that means some legitimate jobs). You can stream and listen to B92 here!
