What we know about Aziz Ansari’s new Netflix show
After months of speculation, we finally have some details on Aziz Ansari’s highly-anticipated Netflix series — and we couldn’t be more excited.
Co-created with Parks and Recreation writer Alan Yang, Master of None will follow Dev (played by Ansari), a 30-year-old actor based in New York who, “has trouble deciding what he wants to eat, much less the pathway for the rest of life.” (We feel you, Dev.) According to a press release, the show will address everything from “the plight of the elderly,” to “the immigrant experience,” to “how to find the most delicious pasta for dinner” — all topics we’re sure Ansari will tackle perfectly. While we don’t know a ton more about it yet, if the title’s any clue (we assume it’s a play on the adage, “Jack of all trades, master of none.”), Dev is guaranteed to be an interesting character, and we can’t wait to see what he gets up to.
Master of None will co-star H. Jon Benjamin (Bob’s Burgers, Archer), Lena Waithe (The Comeback), Eric Wareheim (Tim and Eric), Noel Wells (Saturday Night Live), and Kelvin Yu(Popular) — a total comedy dream team. The off-screen talent is equally amazing: Mike Schur (Parks and Recreation), Dave Becky (Louie), and David Miner (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) will all serve as executive producers.
The 10-episode comedy premieres November 6 — and we can’t wait to get our binge on.
