The most on-point tweets about Kendrick Lamar's 2018 Grammys performance
Kendrick Lamar kicked off the 2018 Grammys with a performance featuring U2 and Dave Chapelle. Lamar performed “XXX,” off his 2017 album, DAMN, and “King’s Dead,” a Jay Rock cut you’ll be hearing in Black Panther (Lamar put together the soundtrack). Obvs, Lamar slayed. The performance started with a choreographed dance from men and women in uniform and the American flag in the background.
Chapelle interjected during the performance, saying, “Hi. I’m Dave Chapelle. And I just wanted to remind the audience that the only thing more frightening than watching a black man be honest in America is being an honest black man in America. Sorry for the interruption. Please continue.”
DAMN, is right.
Lamar already won two awards so far. Pre-show, the rapper took home Best Rap Performance for “HUMBLE” and Best Rap Song (also for “HUMBLE”). The rap prodigy is up Album of the Year (DAMN). Here are some tweets that basically sum up all the feels we felt during Lamar’s Grammys performance:
