In memory of Avicii, here are some of his best songs

Today, April 20th, we were saddened to learn that DJ and music producer Avicii had passed away at 28 years old. Little is known about his passing at this time, but he was reportedly found dead in Muscat, Oman this afternoon. To commemorate him, let’s take a look at his musical career.

Born Tim Bergling in Sweden, Avicii began producing music when he was 16 and touring when he was just 18 years old. The DJ’s career spanned eight years, with him retiring in 2016 due to health problems, including acute pancreatitis.

The artist was nominated for two Grammy Awards during his career, receiving Best Dance Recording  nods for 2011’s “Sunshine” and 2012’s “Levels.” His song “Wake Me Up” is probably his best known work, reaching #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2013.

Avicii also netted several Billboard Music Awards nominations for his work, including for producing. In 2014, he won Best Electronic/Dance Song for “Wake Me Up.” The DJ’s final musical project was the album Avicii, which was released in August 2017 and has been nominated for Top Dance/Electronic Album at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, which will be held May 20th. He also won two MTV Music Awards.

Following the announcement of Avicii’s death, tributes to the DJ came pouring in, including from fellow producer and DJ Calvin Harris.
