Here’s the Arrested Development Easter egg in Infinity War — so don’t go and blue yourself looking for it

Greetings, there are spoilers ahead for the middle and end of Avengers: Infinity War.

So you just saw Avengers: Infinity War. You’re still reeling from that final shot of the OG Avengers being the only ones left alive after Thanos uses his now-complete Infinity Stones gauntlet to wipe out half of the universe with just a snap of his fingers. And the credits start rolling. You’re absolutely floored and don’t know how to feel.

But before the end credits sequence starts, you catch something out of the corner of your eye in the special thank-you section of the credits. Somehow, somewhere, an Arrested Development character made a cameo in this film…and you totally missed it.

No, you didn’t hallucinate that line thanking the Arrested Development rights-holders for letting the movie use a character from the cult favorite comedy. It happened in a blink-and-you-miss-it moment. And it really *is* a blink-and-you-miss-it moment because it’s just a split second, blurry background flash and then it’s gone. If you don’t know to look for it, you won’t catch it. Also, it’s not in the Banana Stand, because not everything is always in the Banana Stand.

So when you head off to your second, third, and fourth viewing of the movie, prepare to blue yourself and keep your eyes peeled during the scene where the Guardians of the Galaxy (minus Thor, Rocket/Rabbit, and Teen Groot) journey to Knowhere to get the Reality Stone from the Collector. Unfortunately, as we all know, they arrive too late and Thanos already killed the Collector and added the stone to his gauntlet. But before Gamora tries to kill Thanos, you can see none other than never-nude Tobias Fünke in one of the Collector’s glass pods, seemingly passed out and wearing his full Blue Man makeup. Now that’s a clear-cut situation for comedy — and tell your friends.

Major shout-out to this tweet for helping locate the Ann egg Easter egg:

So now we have to ask, how did this even come about? Well, if you didn’t already know, Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo are former Arrested Development directors. They helmed 14 episodes of the comedy, including the pilot. So Tobias’s cameo isn’t as random as it may have seemed at first! Earlier in the week they told HelloGiggles that there *might* be a Bluth cameo in the movie, explaining:

“All we can say is that [viewers] will be rewarded with careful attention,” Anthony Russo explained during the Infinity War press day. “I think die-hard Arrested Development fans will see it on the first viewing.”

And this isn’t the first Arrested Development cameo in Marvel movies either. Thanks to the Russo brothers, Captain America: Civil War also featured the Bluth family stair car during the airport battle scene. The more you know ?.
