Avan Jogia has reportedly auditioned to play Aladdin, and these videos of him singing confirm he would be fantastic

If you haven’t heard by now, there are reports that Disney’s casting process for the live-action Aladdin has been a bit challenging. But here’s proof that things might be looking up: Avan Jogia auditioned for the role of Aladdin, and we have reason to believe he’s a fantastic fit. According to TMZ, Avan sent in an audition tape singing a song from the musical, and now his name is in the mix of contenders.

The 25-year-old Canadian actor of Indian descent submitted a taped audition in which he performs a song from the film, Just Jared reports. Apparently, his audition impressed the film’s director Guy Ritchie, giving us a serious contender for the role of Aladdin.

Disney is reportedly struggling to find an actor of Middle Eastern or Indian descent to star in the Aladdin remake, but this footage of Jogia singing should definitely show them he’s worthy of the part.

**We’re going to make a friendly mention here that Aladdin is a fictional movie about Arabs. India is not in the Middle East, and many feel that casting an actor of Indian descent for a role meant for an Arab actor is not okay.

Jogia is known for his portrayal of Beck Oliver on the Nickelodeon show Victorious, andwe can’t get enough of him playing the guitar and singing with Liz Gillies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BE_PFUOPaaI

We can totally see Jogia as Aladdin, and more importantly, the internet can, too. After Disney said its casting call failed to yield any suitable picks, a whole bunch of people who have promising futures as casting directors tossed out actors who fit the bill, with Jogia receiving plenty of love. false

This waiting game is probably torturous for fans who can’t wait to see the remake hit the big screen. We’ll try to remain patient while the producers make their decision, which hopefully happens sooner than later.
