Aubrey Plaza and Michael Cera dated and almost got married, and that’s news to us!

Today in surprising news, it seems like two of the main cast members from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World almost got hitched. In a new interview, Aubrey Plaza admitted she almost married Michael Cera, who she was dating on the sly for about a year and a half. Well, that’s something we never would have guessed!

Plaza was on the  RuPaul and Michelle Visage’s podcast “What the Tee?” when she spilled the beans, saying that her and Cera went on a road trip after shooting the movie, and kinda-sorta fell in love.

"He's a very special — I mean, we love each other," Plaza said on the show. "We're still really good friends. He's just a weird little freak and we speak the same language... He's one of the funniest people I know."

I guess now that the news is out in the open, it’s not totally a shock. Two cute, funny, young comedians? Makes sense. Add that to the fact that in general, both Plaza and Cera aren’t very public about their love lives. Plaza did come out this year as bisexual, which is pretty incredible.

As for her connection with Cera, it wasn’t love at first sight. Instead, it was friendship that blossomed into much more.

"He wasn’t someone I ever saw and thought, ‘Oh, give me some of that Michael Cera,' she said. "I wasn’t like that. We just connected and after, it just happened."

While the two were probably wise in not spontaneously getting married, it’s sweet that they remain so close after all these years!
