Ashley Olsen’s newest boyfriend is much older than she is but, seriously, what’s the big deal?
If all of the rumors are true, it looks like Ashley Olsen’s new boyfriend is definitely way older than she is. The fashion queen was seen at Flywheel Flatiron with new beau Richard Sachs Friday morning and she has people talking. Let’s be honest for a second: dating isn’t all that hard (sometimes). but it can get very complicated. Becoming a fully functional human being and then finding another fully functional human being you actually enjoy spending time with can be tricky. OK, so yes, dating really is all that hard.
So, what happens when you throw a significant age difference into the mix? Magic, apparently.
Page Six reports that Olsen, 30, and Sachs, who’s in his late fifties, were spotted being super affectionate while riding next to each other in a spin class. Talk about#BaeFitnessGoals
According to an anonymous source, they “sat in the front row of the spin class and rode on bikes next to each other. They were affectionate after the class, despite being sweaty. She covered up in a big jacket and huge black sunglasses. They were canoodling and cuddly when they left holding hands. He looked like he could be twice her age.”
The new couple was also seen just days before on a romantic stroll around the Hamptons. It has been reported that Ashley’s new beau is a major player in the art space, divorced, and lives in New York, St. Barts, and Malibu. When it comes to real estate, he’s a total catch in that regard.
In general, there’s a stigma that younger women date older men because they’re more powerful and can essentially “take care of her,” which is probably not the case here. According to Business Insider, evolutionary psychologists say there’s a strategic advantage for women to snag an older gent — he’s had more time to accumulate resources and stability than his younger counterparts, which could make him a more viable partner and father. Basically, he’s a grown up. If you can believe it, this is actually called the “George Clooney Effect.”
It seems the Olsens might have the right idea, since this isn’t the first time Ashley has been linked to older men and sister Mary Kate, 30 years old married her French bae, Olivier Sarkozy, 47 last fall. The twins have been working — on screen, on the runway, launching brands — since they’re were literally in diapers. It looks like having a man who’s been around the business block as much as they have just makes sense for them. When it comes to knowing what you want from a man, the Olsen twins seem just fine.
Everyone’s happy and healthy (ahem, couples spin class!), so there’s really no reason to judge. To each their own.
