Ashley Graham just made history with Revlon as the first plus-size model with a beauty contract
Some of the most iconic brands have been stepping up their game, going further than they ever have in their quest to not only sell great products but also create thoughtful and inclusive ad campaigns. Revlon has been leading the charge with its new “Live Boldly” campaign, and the news that Ashley Graham will be one of the faces of this progressive campaign delights us to no end.
According to WWD, Ashley is making history as the first plus-sized model to sign a beauty contract. Do we wish that this had happened sooner? Of course, but we’re thrilled Ashley is leading the way and opening doors. It’s good to see a prominent brand like Revlon taking those steps to becoming more inclusive.
Ashley spoke to WWD about how much this means to her, saying,
"Historically, curvy girls are not given beauty contracts. It's kind of groundbreaking because in my generation of models, this hasn't happened yet. This is one of those moments where I'm over the moon, I cried a little."
We’re crying right along with you, girl.

The photos for this revolutionary new campaign are gorgeous. And as we all know, representation matters. For young girls, being able to see a plus-sized model as the face of one of the most famous beauty brands on the planet will make a huge impact.

Graham also remarked to WWD,
"The average American woman is a size 14 and if you ask me, lipstick does not have a size."

WWD reports that the actual images of the ad campaign will differ from traditional photoshoots as well. Instead of featuring just a single model in a studio setting, the ads will star groups of models together in real-life places and situations…

…which we think will lend a much more down-to-earth and relatable feeling to the campaign as a whole.
We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more images and news about the Revlon “Live Boldly” campaign. So far, we love what we see!
