Ashlee Simpson has “pumpkin pink” hair now, and we didn’t even know this was an option

If, like us, you’ve been inspired by Ashlee Simpson since her ~punk rock~ days of yore, you’re going to love her latest hair switch-up. Simpson has largely been sporting the same shade of sunny blonde ever since she ditched her chocolate brown shag with side bangs from the “Pieces of Me” days. But she just debuted a brand new hair color—and it’s the trendy fall shade we never knew we needed.

Simpson’s stylist, Riawna Capri, showed off the new ‘do on Instagram, revealing that she transformed Simpson’s platinum strands to a shade of pumpkin pink. Yes, pumpkin pink hair is a thing and it’s magical.

"Ashlee looks amazing in all shades of reds and coppers," Capri told HelloGiggles. "It's no surprise that she looks absolutely incredible with this smoky shade of rose! I call it pumpkin pink."

Capri noted on Instagram that the “smoky, dusty” shade of pink comes thanks to a blend of rose gold, bronze, and a dash of blush, creating a multidimensional warmth that just so happens to combine two of our favorite fall trends. She was able to transform Simpson’s hair in just 20 minutes, using products by Joico to achieve the look.

First, let’s take a look at Simpson’s previously platinum strands, as she rang in her 35th birthday with her husband, Evan Ross, earlier this month.

And now, her stunning pumpkin pink hair. The bronze adds an apricot feel to the trendy rose gold shade we’ve seen on so many celebs (like Dua Lipa and Lucy Hale) and all over our Instagram feeds lately.

While the autumnal shade sounds super easy to achieve on your own, the Los Angeles-based stylist notes that you’ll need to start with a blonde base. So those with darker hair will require some more time in the stylist’s chair to get the perfect pumpkin pink shade.

We definitely don’t blame you if you’re inspired to snag pumpkin pink hair for yourself and take 1 million Instagram shots as you sip on your daily PSL. After all, fall only comes once a year, but this hair color looks good in any season.
