Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and other artists have responded to the tragic shooting at a Las Vegas country music festival
Last night, a lone gunman opened fire on a crowd of 22,000 people at a country music festival in Las Vegas. Route 91 Harvest Festival was meant to be a celebration of country music and a place for music lovers to have a good time. This act of terror is the single deadliest mass shooting in modern American history, and it comes only months after a bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England. Celebrities and the rest of the music industry are sending their thoughts and voices to a senseless act of violence at a concert, a place meant for artistic expression and community.
Taylor Swift wrote, “There are no words to express the helplessness and sorrow my broken heart feels for the victims in Vegas and their families.”

Both Jason Aldean and Jake Owen performed at the concert that night, so they experienced the nightmare first-hand but are thankfully safe.
Praying for everyone here in Vegas. I witnessed the most unimaginable event tonight. We are okay. Others arent. Please pray.

Ariana Grande, who experienced an act of terrorism not that long ago at her own concert, wrote, “My heart is breaking for Las Vegas. We need love, unity, peace, gun control & for people to look at this & call this what it is = terrorism.”

A host of other artists shared their broken hearts on social media as well. Some took the opportunity to speak on gun control.

The music community is pouring out its hearts to those innocent music lovers who simply headed to a concert for a good time, and were subjected to absolute terror. Our hearts go out to all of the victims, along with their families and loved ones.
